The long weekend is almost here and I can practically taste the relaxation and joy…
By relaxation and joy, I obviously mean this smooth and fruity cocktail.
It’s hard to believe that the big move into our new house is tomorrow. The journey to this point has been long and full of wayyyyyy too much painting, but I am feeling the weight of a never-ending to-do list start to lessen slightly.

Am I the only person who likes to mark special occasions through new and exciting cocktails?
I have been planning this cocktail for a long time, primarily in anticipation of the final long weekend of summer and celebrating being done with the move into our new home.
Labor Day weekend marks the final hot days of summer for most of us, and it’s the last holiday we all get for a good bit, so I like to make it count.
What’s better than a fruity celebration in a glass to mark the occasion?!
This take on a classic vesper cocktail is special for two reasons.
First, and most importantly, is the main ingredient.
The vodka.
To be more specific, Absolut Elyx vodka.
If you haven’t had a chance to try this top shelf vodka, you need to track a bottle down in your part of the world as quickly as possible. Honestly, it’s topped the list of my favorite vodkas for a bit now (ever since I first had the pleasure of trying it at a small bar in Vegas earlier this year). The silky smooth spirit is exactly that – silky and smooth. It isn’t harsh and doesn’t require several ingredients to mask the flavor. You can make a strong drink and savor the flavor of the vodka, without those nasty shudders you get from subpar spirits.
Absolut Elyx really shines in this particular cocktail, but it’s also amazing in vodka martinis and especially a Moscow mule.
The second reason this cocktail is so dark fantastic is because it’s so stinkin’ EASY. Watch the video below to see for yourself!
You simply muddle berries together and then shake with the rest of the ingredients over ice. Strain, serve and sip.
Then repeat as necessary. Which will be a lot this weekend.
At least it will be for me once the movers get the last box in the house… Just sayin’.
