It’s time to brighten things up in here!
Winter can get a bit dreary and I love being reminded that grapefruits are now in season. This is the perfect time of year to indulge in something bright, cheery, and traditionally what I would deem to be more of a summer drink.
Who says it has to be 80 degrees outside to enjoy a pretty-in-pink cocktail such as this margarita?!
I love the tartness that the grapefruit and lime juice invoke in this drink. The hint of agave and sugar rim are just enough sweetness to keep you from puckering up too much, but doesn’t completely obliterate the star ingredient.
The only thing that’s missing from this picture is me at age 7 picking fresh grapefruit from my grandparents’ backyard in Boca Raton, Florida. Those were the days I would sneak out with my grandpa to pick grapefruits early in the morning which we would then drown in sugar and call it “healthy”. If I could toast my grandpa now, I am 100% sure he would want to toast with this drink.
Bring on the sunshine. 🙂

This would be a perfect alternative brunch drink to the usual mimosa!

Oh, BFF! This is amazing. I am a recent grapefruit lover. It used to be too tart for my sweet tooth. But now, I love it so much! I am definitely going to have to try this variation on the margarita! Pinned for future reference.

This grapeffruit margarita looks so refreshing and delicious. Perfect for the summer here in Australia right now – I especially love that you used agave as a sweetener here, I can’t get enough of the stuff!
