Dessert boards exactly the kind of centerpiece I like for a party, because you can be as creative as you want and everyone can find something they like on the board. Bring it out for potlucks, Halloween parties, horror movie nights, and more!
here’s what you’ll need
candy. All the candy you want is welcome on this board! It is Halloween after all. We like the classics like candy corn and candy pumpkins (hey, don’t judge), but Halloween peanut butter M&Ms are another must. You can go with any candy you want from mini peanut butter cups to gummy worms, chocolate candy bars to sour candies to chocolate truffles.
snacks. Chocolate covered pretzels, salty pretzels, nuts, graham crackers, candy apple slices, Oreos, and anything else you can think of!
dips. Caramel apple dip is a personal favorite because it feels very Halloween-y! You can also use marshmallow dip, chocolate dip, fruit dip, etc.
dippers. Depending on the sweet dip you choose, you will want dippers to go alongside it! We used graham crackers, salty pretzels, and tart green apples to dip in the caramel apple dip. You could also grab marshmallows and other fruits if you are using a chocolate dip or a marshmallow dip. Store-bought caramel sauce is also totally doable if you are short on time!
fruit. I like to have a little fruit on the plate to break up the sweetness of the board! Here you see red grapes and sliced green apple were used. You can use any type of apples you like, or lean into other seasonal fruits like – blackberries, figs, green grapes, kiwi, pears, pomegranates, and star fruit. If you want to adapt this for another season, use seasonal fruit like strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, orange slices, etc.
baked goodies. This is another option to add to the board! We didn’t do it for the one you see pictured here, but you could add spiderweb cookies, Halloween cheesecake brownies, spooky peanut butter rice krispie treats, macarons, mini cupcakes, and any other baked treat that you might like to add. You could even make your favorite cookies and add some candy eyes to them before baking to make them spooky.
this recipe’s must haves
Bring out your favorite charcuterie serving board, or use a large cutting board like the one you see pictured here. It’s been my go-to serving platter for all types of boards over the years.
Prepare any elements that need to be sliced with a chef’s knife and a separate cutting board.
here’s how to assemble a halloween dessert charcuterie board
add bowls
We always say to start a board with the larger items! Those are usually bowls. Add each small bowl to the board, leaving space between so they are not all crowded together on one side. Fill them with candies, jams, honey, sweet dips, fruit, etc.
add dippers
Place the dippers closer to the bowls of dip for easy grabbing and dipping. If you are adding in baked goodies, now’s the time to add those in to make sure you have enough space for each of them.
add fruit
Add in the fruit next. You may only be using a couple of fruits, or you may be using more. Pile them together in sections around the board to spread them out.
add snacks and candies
Fill in the empty spaces with all of your extra snacks and candies! You can add more spooky decorations like plastic spiders, ghosts, and skeleton hands to make it even more on theme.
Pro Tip: Adapt this board for any holiday! All you need to do is go with themed desserts and you can make this dessert board for Valentine’s Day, Christmas, Mother’s Day, New Year’s Eve, and more.
tips and ideas
keep it simple! There’s no need to go overboard with this board. Stick to a few key treats you love – maybe focus on one type of homemade cookie alongside store-bought candies. When it comes to decorations, mix in some budget-friendly options to keep costs down. Remember, it’s all about creating a fun spread without the fuss.
don’t stress about the look! It can be easy to get wrapped up in making a dessert charcuterie board look picture-perfect. Just have fun with it! In all of my experience putting together boards, as long as you spread things out so no two items in the same category are next to each other, you are golden. The priority is to make the board look abundant and full! That’s what makes everyone ooo and ahhh over it.

how long can this board sit out?
Since there is fruit on this board, do not let the board sit out for more than 2 hours total. If you do not include fruit, you can leave it out for much longer!
what to serve with a halloween dessert charcuterie board
This halloween dessert charcuterie board is the ideal dessert for any spooky gathering, so you don’t need to pair any other sweet treats with it after you’ve had your meal.
It also is a fun sweet treat to add to a snack spread, if that’s how you are serving it.
Therefore, I always go to cocktails to pair with this board. Here are some of our reader favorites with a spooky theme:
For a party, this big batch bloody sangria halloween punch is festive and not too sweet, so it pairs well with desserts.
Butterbeer cocktails are a classic in our house! This recipe highlights both cold and hot options to serve it.

how to store
Store. Leftovers can be stored in separate containers to keep the ingredients fresh. Return any fruits to the refrigerator. You can add any jams, nutella, syrup, honey, candy, snacks, and more back to their original containers.
