Beat the summer heat with a delicious, refreshing mango mojito recipe. With just a few simple ingredients, you can make this tasty cocktail at home in no time!
about this mango mojito
You know those sweltering summer days when the mere thought of turning on the oven makes you break into a sweat? That’s when you need to whip up a batch of mango mojitos! This tropical twist on the classic Cuban cocktail is the ultimate thirst-quencher. One sip will instantly transport you to a breezy beach cabana.
We are currently planning a cruise in the latter half of the year, and that has me reminiscing about cruises in the past (pre kiddo!). On one cruise that we went on, there was a Cuban-themed bar that served up the BEST mojitos. I personally loved the mango mojitos because they were fruity, without being way too sweet.
Anytime I sip on a minty classic mojito, I am taken back to that cruise or a tiny little bar in Miami. It’s just one of those cocktails that instantly transports you!
This variation of a mango mojito is delightfully boozy without being overly sweet. With its vibrant colors and a zesty kick of lime, the sweetness of the mango comes through in every sip. It’s basically summer in a cocktail glass!
ingredients
mango. Use fresh, ripe mango if you can! You want to get the best mango flavor for this cocktail.
lime. You will need one lime for this cocktail. Fresh lime juice is a must for making the best mojitos. You could also use lemon juice, if you prefer.
simple syrup. Making your own simple syrup is so easy. All you need are equal parts water and sugar. I have a whole guide on how to make simple syrup on the site so you can get all your questions answered over there! Don’t want to make it? Just pick up a bottle at your local grocery store or liquor store.
mint leaves. Fresh mint leaves are best! You will need the leaves for the cocktail, but also an extra sprig for garnish.
rum. We prefer to use white rum as the alcohol for our mojitos per the classic drink recipe. Use your favorite mid-tier brand! We usually opt for Bacardi.
club soda. Bubbly soda water is what gives this cocktail it’s fizzy signature!
this recipe’s must-haves
You can make this cocktail with just a handful of simple bar tools. You’ll need a muddler and a cocktail stirring spoon. To measure the liquids, grab your jigger! Don’t have a muddler? Just use the handle of a wooden spoon!
To serve this cocktail, we like to use either a favorite highball glass or cocktail glass like these Gatsby glasses that you see pictured here.
here’s how to make a mango mojito
muddle
Add mango chunks to the bottom of a highball glass or cocktail glass with lime wedges. Pour the simple syrup in and muddle until the mango and lime wedges break down.
Drop in mint leaves and lightly muddle. Just a few twists should do it. If you muddle the mint leaves too much, the cocktail will taste bitter.
stir
Pour in white rum and a handful of ice. Stir to combine.
Top with soda water and stir to combine.
garnish
Place a mint sprig in the palm of your hand and give it a good slap with your other hand. This helps to release the fragrance of the mint! Add sprig to the glass along with a few extra chunks of fresh mango. You can also garnish with a lime wheel! Serve immediately.

adjust the sweetness. If you like a sweeter cocktail, add another 1/2 ounce simple syrup to the cocktail!
amp up the mango flavor. Add more mango flavor to the cocktail by adding in 1/2 ounce mango nectar or mango juice to the drink when you add the rum.

can I use mango nectar or juice instead of the fruit?
If you can’t get your hands on fresh mango, you can use mango nectar or juice instead. Use about 2 to 3 ounces of fresh mango juice or nectar in place of the fresh mango chunks.
can I use frozen mango?
Yes, you can use frozen mango. I recommend thawing the frozen fruit before using it in the cocktail. Otherwise it will be impossible to muddle and break down in the drink.
how do I tell if a mango is ripe?
A mango is ripe once the color has turned from green to orange, red, or a rosy color. The final color depends on the variety. When you press into the skin a little, it should give slightly. The mango shouldn’t be mushy! If it is, the mango is over-ripe. Finally, smell the mango. When ripe, it will give off a sweet fragrance.
can I make this recipe non-alcoholic?
Yes! You can easily make this recipe non-alcoholic by omitting the rum. Simply swap in extra bubbly soda water to create a mocktail.
how do I serve this for a party?
Want to serve this up for a party? No problem! Simply increase the amount of servings to the amount of guests you plan to have in the recipe card below. You can muddle everything together in the bottom of a pitcher and assemble. If you are making them ahead of time, be sure to wait to top the mixture with club soda until just before serving! Assemble and place in the refrigerator for up to 3 hours.
