You know what I just realized? This is the first time in a couple of years that I’ve had a patio of my very own to enjoy.

An Orange Dreamsicle cocktail is just the dreamy cocktail you need to dive into on a summery day. It tastes JUST like an orange dreamsicle (or creamsicle). Plus it goes does just as easily, so be careful before you inhale 4 or 5 of them!

This orange dreamsicle is such a revelation.

This cocktail tastes just like an orange dreamsicle (or orange creamsicle if you prefer). It goes down just as easily so be careful before you inhale 4 or 5 of them!. SERIOUSLY.

It’s filled with fresh orange flavor! It’s the flavored vodka is what gives it the dreamy kick, reminding me of the classic frozen treat I used to love getting as a child.

Be warned though, the whipped cream vodka I used with the freshly squeezed orange juice does make this cocktail taste like it’s a strong drink. It’s the adult version of your favorite summery dessert for sure.

It will sneak up on you before you know it (otherwise known as the best way to enjoy a lazy Sunday summer afternoon…)!

Kick back, relax and enjoy the evening with a creamsicle drink before the last day of the week…

wait… is it dreamsicle or creamsicle?

Did you know that a dreamsicle is made with milk and ice, whereas a creamsicle is made with ice cream? Honestly, both of them are used interchangeably so it doesn’t really matter too much what you call them! I have to say that I prefer dreamsicle, especially for this drink, because the flavor is downright DREAMY.

The original creamsicle was a vanilla ice cream popsicle covered in iced orange juice. It’s one of those desserts I vividly remember enjoying as a kid.

Then there’s the Dairy Queen Dreamsicle that is a soft serve ice cream with an orange coating. Yet another memory from childhood comes roaring back when I think about it. How about you?

Orange Dreamsicle

ingredients

ice. You will need about 3 cups of ice for this recipe so make sure you have some made already!

orange juice. I highly recommend using freshly squeezed orange juice if you can! If not, be sure to get 100% orange juice that is pulp-free.

whipped cream vodka. Choose your favorite brand here, just make sure it’s the whipped cream flavor! You could also use vanilla vodka if you can’t track down the whipped cream vodka. It’ll taste a little different than the intended recipe but it’ll still be delightful! Since this cocktail is sweet already, you don’t need to add simple syrup to this orange cocktail.

this recipe’s must-haves

You can serve these up in either highball glasses or mason jars! Even a simple pint glass will work.

My favorite Vitamix so you can get the best creamy texture for the cocktail. It’s the one blender I rely on and I’ve had it for years! If you are making this in a big batch (instructions on that below), you will need to use a larger blender to fit in all in one go, so if you have a smaller blender, you may need to work in batches and combine it all at the end in a pitcher.

It is SO. Freaking. EASY. You literally just throw everything is a blender and blend, blend, blend. Pour into a cocktail glass to serve.

Top each glass off with some whipped cream and a wheel of orange for extra pizzaz!

turn them into popsicles. Want a fun summer treat for the adults? Pour this drink into popsicle molds and freeze overnight!

use fresh juice. Try to use fresh orange juice because the flavor really cannot be beat in this cocktail.

what flavor is orange dreamsicle?

An orange dreamsicle is a classic frozen treat that is the ideal blend of both orange and vanilla. The orange juice gives you the orange flavor and you get the magical vanilla bean element with the whipped cream vodka.

can I make this without the alcohol?

I do not recommend making this recipe without the vodka because that’s what gives this orange dreamsicle drink a lot of its flavor! The whipped cream vodka is what makes the drink taste like the classic treat you know and love. Without it, it’s basically an orange slushie.

how do I make this for a group?

You can easily make this orange creamsicle cocktail into a big batch cocktail! To make this for 4 people, you will need 12 cups of ice, 2 cups orange juice, and 1 cup whipped cream vodka. Blend it all together in a large blender and serve!

how strong is this cocktail?

I don’t find this cocktail to be very strong as it has the standard 2 oz pour that many cocktails have. With the amount of juice and ice in there, you honestly won’t feel like it’s that strong. While it doesn’t TASTE strong, you can easily drink a few of these so don’t guzzle them down too quick!

With a creamy drink like this, I always think of a party! This cocktail is ideal to serve at a warm gathering during the spring or summer, so that means you need a savory snack to serve alongside it.

Wings are on of the things that I LOVE to cook throughout the year, particularly on the grill. I have a handful of recipes (such as the recipes I’ll add above the recipe card for your wing exploration) that I adore. However all of those are really specific in flavor with homemade sauces and spice mixtures.

Of course, there are times when I just want to be a little lazier. So I will use spice rubs that are already made!

Not to mention flavorful BBQ sauces that I can simply toss the wings in.

That is exactly the magic of this grilled beer marinated chicken wings recipe.

The marinade is very adaptable and light, making it easy to use a variety of beers for it. Also it can pair with so many different sauces depending on the mood that you are in.

Not only is the marinade easy, actually grilling the wings is unbelievably easy and that’s because of one thing… That thing is Traeger grills.

I have been obsessed with Traeger for such a long time. I remember when my mom first got her Traeger grill, and all of a sudden I was showing up to grill and smoke all the things I could possibly get my hands on every single week.

So when Traeger offered to have me try out their Traeger Pro Series 34 Pellet Grill, I jumped up and down like a little girl, running around the house screaming “I AM GOING TO GRILL AND SMOKE AND ROAST AND BAKE ALL. THE. THINGS!!!!”

More wings recipes: Spicy Miso Glazed Chicken Wings / Dry Rub Wings / Grilled Honey Sriracha Wings / Grilled Cajun Wings

ingredients

chicken wings. You can buy your chicken wings already broken down into flats (wingettes) and drummettes, but we like to purchase the whole wings to break them down ourselves! They are super easy to break down and end up being cheaper this way. Plus you can reserve the wing tips to make stock later!

cornstarch. Cornstarch helps the wings stay crispy when added to the grill!

chicken rub. You can use your favorite chicken rub for this recipe! We are using Traeger’s Fin and Feather Rub, but any chicken rub will work (a garlic rub is always a good idea!).

beer. Use either a pale ale, lager or lighter IPA. The stronger the flavor of the beer, the more it will come through in the marinade.

soy sauce. You can select either low sodium soy sauce or regular soy sauce.

honey. The honey brings a mild sweetness to the marinade to balance out the flavors in the beer! You can also use maple syrup or agave.

spices. You will need a combination of onion powder, smoked paprika, and chili powder for the marinade.

hot sauce. Any hot sauce works, but we really like the heat level and flavor of Frank’s Red Hot Sauce.

vinegar. Use a mild vinegar for the marinade! We recommend a rice wine vinegar, but you could also substitute white wine vinegar or champagne vinegar. Do not use white vinegar as it is too strong in flavor.

bbq sauce. Choose your favorite BBQ sauce!

Grilled Beer Marinated Chicken Wings

Why are you so excited about a grill tho?

I am so glad you want to know. Traeger grills are not simple ordinary grills. It isn’t charcoal and it isn’t propane – isn’t it’s a wood fired grill that doesn’t simply grill.

You get the ease of use of a gas grill, with incredible flavor from the wood pellets it uses. Even if you aren’t smoking a dish in the grill, you still get just the right amount of smoke flavor in each bite.

The flavor of those pellets (of which Traeger has so many incredible flavors – two of my favorites in particular are Cherry and Hickory) really enhances the flavor of the food that you cook with this incredible machine.

It grills, it smokes, it roasts, it bakes, and it does so much more. The dang grill does everything that I need it to and it completely rocks my world.

For this particular recipe, I cooked the wings on High and they cooked in a flash with a ton of flavor.

Then I toss the wings in Traeger’s Sweet and Tangy Apricot BBQ Sauce. The flavor is incredibly powerful. You will not be able to resist getting sticky and messy with every single bite you take of this incredible grilled beer marinated chicken wings recipe.

I’m going to be sharing a couple more recipes featuring this grill! That’s because I can’t fit ALL of my thoughts on the grill into one post. So, GET EXCITED.

Grilled Beer Marinated Chicken Wings

here’s how to make beer marinated chicken wings

marinade wings

Rinse and dry the wings well. Toss the wings together in a large bowl with cornstarch and chicken rub until evenly coated.

In a separate bowl, whisk together beer, soy sauce, honey, spices, hot sauce, and vinegar. Add the wings and toss to coat.

Marinate for at least 30 minutes, covered, in the refrigerator.

When ready to grill, preheat the grill to high heat. Prep the grates by coating in oil, whether it is avocado oil or extra virgin olive oil.

Grill wings in a single layer skin side up, covered, for about 20 minutes.

coat and serve

Brush the wings with BBQ sauce. Grill for another 5 minutes until cooked through and reach an internal temperature of 165˚F.

Add remaining BBQ sauce to a large bowl and toss the cooked wings in the sauce until coated. Serve with a sprinkle of fresh herbs like parsley. You can also garnish with green onion.

I am going to load you up with all of the things that you need to make this KILLER recipe below. If you don’t happen to have a Traeger grill, be sure to check out their Traeger Pro Series 34 Pellet Grill because it is AMAZING. For all the other juicy items AND ingredients you need, check out the list below!

My favorite pellets to use for this recipe are these Traeger Grills Hickory 100% All-Natural Hardwood Pellets.

Traeger Signature Spices Fin & Feather Rub is the rub that I used for the wings, and the Traeger Grills Sweet & Tangy Apricot BBQ Sauce is the ideal fruity, tangy pairing!

Be sure to grab a pair of heavy-duty Traeger BBQ Tongs to make flipping the wings on the grill that much easier. We like to use a baking sheet for prep, but you can also use grill prep trays!

A Traeger Silicone Basting Brush is a must for getting that juicy sauce all up in those wings.

Yes you can! If you want, you can marinade these wings for up to 8 hours. That makes them ideal for making ahead of your upcoming party!

ingredients

  • 2 1/2 lbs chicken wings and drumsticks
  • 1/3 cup cornstarch
  • 1 Tbsp Traeger Fin and Feather Rub
  • 2/3 cup beer I used a ginger golden ale but you can use a pale ale, lager, or light IPA
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp honey
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 2 tsp Frank’s Red Hot Sauce
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp rice wine vinegar
  • Traeger Wood Pellets I prefer Cherry for this particular recipe, but any will work!
  • 2 cups BBQ sauce I used Traeger’s Sweet & Tangy Apricot Sauce
  • Garnish: freshly chopped parsley

instructions

  • Rinse chicken wings in cold water and dry well with paper towels.
  • In a medium bowl, stir together cornstarch and Traeger Fin and Feather Rub. Add wings to the bowl and toss to coat.
  • In a separate bowl, stir together beer, soy sauce, honey, onion powder, smoked paprika, chili powder, Frank’s Red Hot Sauce, salt and rice wine vinegar. Add cornstarch herb coated wings to the marinade.
  • Marinate for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
  • Heat up grill.
  • Grill wings skin side up for 20 minutes, covered and over indirect heat.
  • Brush wings with BBQ sauce (I used Traeger’s Sweet & Tangy Apricot Sauce). Grill for an additional 5 minutes, or until the wings are cooked through and reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees F.
  • Add the remaining BBQ sauce to a large bowl and toss the wings in the sauce.
  • Add wings to a serving bowl or platter and sprinkle with parsley before serving.

It’s MAYYYYYY!!!!

Not to mention Cinco de Mayo is on Saturday, I wrapped up an epic bachelorette party last weekend, and the coming weeks are going to be full of celebration and F-U-N.

So since I am in a particularly festive mood, I thought it was high time for a bubbly, boozy and tasty champagne punch to imbibe in during all the festivities.

I am not normally one for sweet drinks, but I have to admit that I have a special place in my heart for the tequila sunrise.

Every time I sip on one, I am usually somewhere tropical, enjoying a pool or the beach, and feeling like I am in heaven.

I rarely make them for myself when I am home, because I love to save that taste for something really special.

But that only lasts so long when you realize that your next tropical vacation isn’t going to be for several more months…

Tequila Sunrise Champagne Punch

Don’t get me wrong, I am SUPER excited to go to Alaska for our honeymoon, but I have to get my taste of tropical, sunny happiness where I can.

SO, being the impatient lady that I am, I whipped up the classic tequila cocktail… but with a twist.

All of the flavors you love in a tequila sunrise are in this cocktail, but they are amplified even more with the addition of champagne. The bubbles help lighten up the overall sweetness of the typical recipe for the cocktail, and I love the extra kick you get from two types of booze.

Plus, by making this champagne punch in bulk, you don’t have to be running around making cocktails to order.

Instead you can kick back, enjoy whatever gathering you are at, and savor every sip. No matter if you are at the beach or you are fighting off the random cold days that pop up every so often. Seriously though can someone stop the rain and cold here in Colorado already?

Tequila Sunrise Champagne Punch

ingredients

tequila – I prefer using a blanco or silver tequila. It’s clear and colorless, making it ideal for this punch. My personal favorites are a mid-range price point like El Jimador or Dobel. You can use something more top shelf if you prefer like Patron.

orange juice – make sure it’s orange juice without the pulp! No one wants a pulp texture in this punch, lol.

pineapple juice – I buy this at my local store in small bottles to use as mixer for future cocktails! Better than buying a giant bottle that you will only use some of.

grenadine syrup – while you can make this at home, I opt to buy it. You should be able to find it at your local grocery store and at any liquor store.

champagne – Pick the champagne you love to drink! I recommend going with a brut champagne, because the sweeter ones will make this punch way too sweet.

this recipe’s must-haves

I love having a drink dispenser for gatherings, no matter the size. You can use them with lemonade, teas, or this cocktail of course!

You will need a wooden spoon and if you aren’t using a drink dispenser, reach for your favorite pitcher.

here’s how to make tequila sunrise champagne punch

combine liquors and juices

In a large pitcher or a beverage dispenser, add tequila, orange juice, pineapple juice, and champagne. Stir to combine.

Fill the beverage dispenser with ice.

add grenadine

Slowly pour in the grenadine. By pouring it in slowly, you will get the classic effect and look of the tequila sunrise cocktail.

Pour into glasses filled with ice and garnish each glass with an orange slice and maraschino cherry. Serve.

what kind of tequila should I use in this champagne punch?

You can actually use silver or gold tequila for this punch, depending on what you normally prefer to drink. For me, I’m a silver tequila fan so that’s what I reach for. 

can I use prosecco instead of champagne?

You sure can, though I highly recommend using brut because the flavor is better in the particular punch. If you choose to use prosecco, I recommend halving the amount of grenadine so that the punch is not overly sweet.

You can serve this punch as an accompaniment for everything from brunch to a backyard bbq to a summery dinner! It’s bubbly and festive so it pairs with lots of different dishes. Here are my top recommendations though!

  • 2 1/4 cups tequila

  • Maraschino cherries

instructions

  • Add tequila, orange juice, pineapple juice and champagne to a pitcher or glass beverage dispenser.
  • Fill the beverage dispenser with ice.
  • Slowly and carefully pour in the grenadine to get the classic effect of the tequila sunrise cocktail.
  • Garnish with an orange slice and maraschino cherry on a toothpick.
  • Serve immediately in glasses filled with ice.
