Grilled cheese and tomato soup are one of my ultimate comfort foods. It reminds me of cold days spent snuggled up in a blanket, watching movies, and completely forgetting about all responsibilities.
Remember those days?
I know, I know, I need to put the truffle oil down and back away.
I just can’t help it. I have been literally CRAVING it.
And with popcorn and cheese? Oh yes. That’s the good stuff.
When I lived in Italy, I was obsessed with Caprese Salads.
I couldn’t get enough of them. They were my fuel. In addition to massive amounts of espresso, Nutella stuffed pastries, pizza, and (most importantly) PASTA.

I have always been a huge fan of deviled eggs. Something about the tangy devilish filling makes me regress right back to those happy childhood memories of Easter egg hunts and frilly spring dresses.
Spring has sprung! The weather may be crazy and it might snow tomorrow in Denver, BUT our tulips are peeking through the ground so I am officially calling it spring.
To me asparagus just screams spring. I think it’s the bright green color. It looks completely foreign after a winter of brown and white.
If you know me at all you know that I have a severe addiction to bread in all forms.
It’s to the point where the people I go to dinner with simply leave the bread basket in front of me at restaurants and order another basket so they can make sure they get at least get one slice with their meal.
I think I am seriously missing summer. All I can think about is margaritas on the porch and letting the fresh wind breathe summer life into our house.
Summers were always my favorite time of year when I was young. They meant no school, endless hours in the pool, and sleeping in every single day.
If only all us adults who aren’t teachers or students could still get summers off. Can you even imagine? It would be pure joy and mayhem all bundled into the short three months that encompass summer break.
You know those days when you want to show someone how much you love them and cook them an amazing meal?
This is that meal.

These are my hubby’s all time favorite cookies. When I told him I was making a batch, he basically flipped out and did a happy dance.
I have been really into “firsts” lately.
For example, I went to a casino and gambled for the first time EVER. I also drank a whole beer for the first time last weekend. Oh and I ate a whole loaf of homemade bread in one day with a truckload full of ricotta, fig jam, and goat cheese. And then I did it again the very next day.
Yep. I’m a winner.
Then there are all the “firsts” I am doing in the kitchen. Like bone marrow? That was a HUGE first.
I decided to follow that up immediately with another first. Pork belly.
Things just got a little crazy over here.
The obsession to cook and eat bone marrow has been a longstanding one. Ever since I read about Julia Child using bone marrow in her French cooking that just sounded oh-so amazing, I knew that I was destined to eat this crazy meat thing called bone marrow.
Oh yes, you read that right. I dipped bacon in chocolate.
I don’t know why this is so good but it really is SO GOOD. I have no idea why I didn’t try this combination sooner. Chocolate covered bacon is something I need in my life. Forever.
I decided it would be a good idea to fry mashed potatoes.
Because really, how could that possibly NOT be a good idea.
I wish I could say that I am glorious enough to make this recipe up completely on my own.
Then I would demand that you bow down to my greatness.
Just so you know, these were gone about 1 minute after they came out of the oven.
I love cheese. In a way that no one but other cheese freaks could even come close to understanding. And I am all about the strong cheese. You know, the ones that stink to high heaven and taste like heaven all at the same time? Those are my FAVORITE.
Time to get back to some basics.
I never really thought about trying this recipe before but after I saw the recipe posted on Crepes of Wrath I thought I would give it a shot, just to see what the deal is.
Nutella is back.
I like to make you all think that I somehow drifted away from it with my amazing self-control. The truth is I don’t have enough self-control to stop eating it straight out of the jar…

This weekend I did something a little crazy.
I made my own ricotta.
That’s right, I made HOMEMADE RICOTTA. Who does that?
Apparently I do.
You all know how much I love bread, so it should be no surprise that the first way I used this lovely, rich, fluffy ricotta was on bread.
Remember when I said I renewed my balsamic vinegar obsession?
I wasn’t kidding.
And now I brought bacon to the party.
Look at this gorgeous mess of a pizza.
Now that’s the right way to start the new year. Really ANYTHING with balsamic vinegar is the right way to start the year.
